Holy Mountain offers a rereading of 15th and 16th century paintings from the collections of the Musée des Augustins. This book is based on the chromatic effects of aerial perspective, a pictorial technique popularised by certain Renaissance masters which consists in marking the depth of field by a succession of colour gradations. Focusing on mountains – a recurring distant landscape – Holy Mountain opens our eyes to these details relegated to the background of the narrative layers of religious paintings.
This project is led by Lia Pradal and Camille Tallent, founders of the PAÏEN editorial project. Lia Pradal is a freelance graphic designer specialised in printed objects, and graduated from the Beaux-Arts de Paris. Camille Tallent is a writer for various media (Archistorm, Fisheye Magazine, Slash/Paris, etc.). They talk about their approach and sign the book.
In partnership with the Musée des Augustins and Région Occitanie.
