Born in 1953 in Dortmund (Germany), he died in 1997 in Vienna.
Martin Kippenberger always insisted that he was not a real painter, sculptor or photographer. He imitated every style without copying any. He was one of the most prolific artists - he preferred the word "entrepreneur" - on the German and European scene over the last thirty years.
