Prefuse 73

Scott Herren, alias Prefuse 73, musician from Atlantz, has favoured eclecticism since the beginning of his young career. With surgical precision, he chisels tracks based on clever melodies, scratches and various sound interferences. Used like any other sound extract, voice samples are treated in a resolutely innovative way: the flows of the best undergound hip-hop MCs such as Doseone or Mikah9 are broken down and placed entirely at the service of the music. Placing themselves somewhere between DJ Shadow and Tortoise, Prefuse 73 revisits hip-hop with intelligence and subtlety. For the live show presented as part of the Printemps de Septembre festival, he will be accompanied by Tortoise's drummer, Johnny Herndon.
