Born in 1970 in Kye-Chang (South Korea), she lives in New York.
Nikki Lee “hides” among the social tribes and groups that she photographs (“Hispanics”,“Lesbians”, “Yuppies”, “Japanese Youth”, “Tourists”.) Behaviour, attitudes and clothes are what determine their social identity. By photographing herself alongside them, as if she belonged to them, the artist questions the ritual of appearance. Her camouflage allows her to be completely hidden.
