Accompanied by Les électrons libres (turntables)
The "last of the men" is the hotel porter who has become too old and loses the uniform that made him prestigious and takes on the coat of a urinal attendant in the hotel basement. The story of a man relegated to the outskirts of a humiliated, degraded humanity, told by Murnau's unleashed camera.
Les électrons libres (association Interact), a Toulouse-based duo that is a fan of Richard D. James, Autechre and Panasonic, accompany this film on the turntables. True pioneers of the genre in the field of electronic music, the two DJs had already accompanied Maurice Elvey's Point ne tueras in 1998, a film rediscovered and restored by the Toulouse film library.
On the occasion of le Printemps de septembre, Les électrons libres proposes an extended version with five musicians.
Commissioned by la cinémathèque de Toulouse.
