Zilla Leutenegger

Born in 1968 in Chur (Switzerland), he lives in Zürich (Switzerland).

Zilla Leutenegger features as the protagonist in all her videos. As such she explores the hidden recesses of our unconscious. In the work we are presenting here, Oh mein Papa (2001), she conjures the at once subtlest and most powerful aspects of dreams and memories. Her work are constructed with a very carefully worked out technique combining digital imagery and drawing.

In this fascinating piece, the artists contrasts feelings and emotions that are not only antagonistic but also universal- feelings which collide and clash in all human relationships. On the one hand, power and control, and on the other delicacy and candour all perfectly take shape in the reference to the paternal and filial sentiments alluded to by this installation.
