Gonzales - DJ Mehdi - I:Cube
Les Soirées Nomades and Le Mouv' are coming together for an evening of electronic discovery. On the Place de la Daurade, on the banks of the Garonne, three of the most brilliant representatives of the new electronic scene will meet us:
Gonzales (live) - 10pm
Canadian by birth and Berlin by adoption, Gonzales has never been able to choose between hip-hop, song and electronica. With humour and cynicism, he serves up offbeat, acidic and melodic hip-hop with a cheeky flow, as well as tear-jerking pop ballads. So many elements that testify to the imagination and multi-faceted talent of this cunning charlatan.
DJ Mehdi (mix) - 11pm
At 25, Mehdi is a bit of a child prodigy of French rap and electronic music: a member of the Ideal J trio at 15, an inventive producer for some of the biggest names in French rap (MC Solaar, Assasin, Kery James), author of remixes for Cassius or Etienne de Crecy, he created his own label Espionnage at 20. His latest album, (The Story of) Espion, confirms his insane talents as a sound director, but also an ability, rarely encountered since Massive Attack, to harmoniously federate voices, atmospheres and sounds from all corners. "The first great smoky and bewitching labum of 2002. (Les Inrockuptibles, January 2002).
I:Cube (mix) - 00:00
The quietest house artist in Paris continues his hedonistic work, a perfect synthesis between dub, bossa, techno and electro, reconciling dance-floor and atmospheric variations. I:Cube is Nicolas Chaux, the man behind the pseudonym, who is also half of Château Flight with Gilb'r. Artists who come from a new musical universe, that of contemporary fusions, that of the dance floor but also that of the home studio.
