Born in 1961 in Geneva, she lives and works there.

Sylvie Fleury's work is at the heart of an artistic approach, now historical, which is constructed alongside the categories and lexicologists of contemporary art. Her work renews with humour the heritage of pop art and that of the ready made. Between the spheres of art and fashion, she pushes back and questions, through minimal critical gestures, the limits of both. By reappropriating the prefabricated images of the media, the iconography of packaging, advertising messages and the post-human figures of B-series and soaps, she marks a stubborn desire to trivialise the work and to distance herself. Simple displacement of objects and materials, her work is an uninhibited rereading of modern and contemporary artistic practices.
