Hans Hemmert

Exhibition — Moulin Saint-James

Hans Hemmert is simultaneously exhibiting photographs at the Moulin Saint James.

Born in 1960 in Hollstadt (Germany), lives and works in Berlin.

Hans Hemmert's sculptural work, coupled with photographs in laminated or lightbox form and videos, starts with a simple intention: to incorporate a thin layer of yellow latex between himself and the world, a second skin that makes a difference and instils a tactile dimension into the interstices of reality. Hans Hermmert has continued this research by having the spectators participate in actions, wearing a yellow headdress stretched high, walking on blue platforms, all of which are shifts in the apprehension of oneself, of the other and of the psychological and social environment.

In Cahors, he created a specific work for the Outside, an installation in yellow latex made up of two air-filled balloons that follow the shape of the Salle des Machines at the Moulin Saint-James and partly emerge from a window.
