Born in 1966, he lives and works in Berlin.
Using digital manipulation, Mat Collishaw creates a universe that tends either towards the magical (a cupboard whose glass is blurred to give way to a view of a forest landscape) or towards the nightmarish, notably through his series of flowers afflicted with buboes and tumescence resulting from various skin diseases.
In Cahors, he presents photographs from the series The awakening of Conscience (1997-1008), as well as an important video installation conceived especially for the exhibition: a "camera obscura" that mixes strange or disturbing scenes with the ordinary vision of the city of Cahors.
Co-produced by the Espace d'art moderne et contemporain de Toulouse Midi-Pyrénées and the Caisse des dépôts et consignations.
