Doug Aitken, Searchers, 2.00pm, 1997
Cibachrome laminated on plexiglass, 40,6 x 50,8cm
Courtesy 303 gallery, New York
Born in 1968 in Redondo Beach (California), he lives and works in New York and Los Angeles.
Doug Aitken works mainly with film, video and photography and is one of a new generation of artists who are keen to work in both the commercial and contemporary art spheres. Doug Aitken is interested in exploring the intersections between art and popular culture. His grainy images, drowned in halos of light, are a trashy mix of current urban culture with references to Los Angeles film culture.
