Alfredo Jaar, Butare, 1996
film noir et blanc, caisson lumineux, 36 x 51 x 6cm
Born in 1956 in Santiago (Chile).
Alfredo Jarr is a critical artist who seeks the power of the image to turn against society, of art that can be transformed into information.
In the installation presented in Cahors, the images (those of the Rwanda camp) are locked in boxes, present but not exhibited, memorials to suffering and not voyeuristic fetishes.
