Born in 1955, he lives in Berlin, Germany.

Since 1986 he has been working on the notion of the photographic archive. He collects all kinds of found or recovered photos that he assembles into paintings according to thematic or hetical criteria, which are ironic allusions to scientific classification systems.

For his first solo exhibition in France, Joachim Schmid will create a special installation on the theme of cinema.
